FINAL PROJECT
WHAT ARE GAMES?
Games are a form of competitive activities or sports that are played with rules. They are played for engagment and amusement for those willing to interact with something new or challenging
MONOPOLY
Here is one of my prototypes I created, which is most likely going to be the format of the game in terms off illustration and colour scheme.
This prototype I particularly like the format and structure of its layout and I am looking to merge it with the first example as I feel design wise it will look better.
This is a plain template I designed which I will further design to see what type of outcome I can achieve and if it is best fit for my game.
This layout is strictly two player, first person to the centre wins, yet the plot (storyline) behind the game is exactly the same as the previous examples. I thought this may be a different and more exciting way to play the game although I believe the layout can be improved which I will further go on to adding colour and improving this prototype.
Monopoly is a board game now also evolved into an interactive online console game that originated in the United States in 1903. Designers Elizabeth Maggie and Charles Darrow’s roles at the time were to elaborate on the economy, which rewarded wealth creation as better than one who is working under a few restrictions. Their role and further reasoning behind designing the game was to promote Henry George (a philosopher and political economist) and his ideas about taxation and the argument over women’s rights as well as the authority of markets by a single entity.

I have used Monopoly as the main source within the authorship and Interaction essay which lead me into wanting to create my own board game. The board game will be targetted at young kids and families based on a fairytale, with pick up cards, dice and a similar yet manipulated similarity to the the "Snakes and Ladders".

DATA GATHERING & DISPLAY REMIX
Firstly, I positioned the elements on the canvas. I did this by using the rounded square tool and adjusting size and colour.
Here I used the square tool to create the tiles then added colour by using the fill tool.
Here I added text which was created in order to direct players around the game.
I created two images and embedded them into my work to depict the rivalry of two knights in competition to save the princess.
This the final outcome.
RESEARCH
The game 'Snakes and Ladders' is targeted at young audiences which plays a part in the concept I chose for my game. This particular structure uses tiles which is a main influence in my game.
I used the idea of the 'chance' and 'community chest' cards to create ways to enable a player to either advance or fall behind. Instead of cards I used words and objects based on the fantasy/fairytale concept.
Upon my research I came across this one, I found it very interesting but not fitting to what I had in mind for my own game. However I was able to become inspired by the choices of colour in this example.
Here we have a more advanced version of the classic game 'Snakes and Ladders' which is intended for an older demographic.
